About Downtown Container Park
Downtown Container Park opened in 2013 as part of Tony Hsieh's Downtown Project, an attempt to seed independent business in the blocks east of Fremont Street. The structure is literally shipping containers and cubes stacked around a central lawn, with about 30 small shops, food stalls, and bars. The 55-foot praying mantis sculpture at the entrance is a Burning Man refugee that shoots flames from its antennae every half hour after dark. It's the single most-photographed thing east of the Fremont Street canopy. Best for an early-evening drink and a wander — tenant rosters shift, so don't plan a specific errand around it. Walkable from any Downtown hotel, or a short rideshare from the Strip.
