About Fremont Street Experience

The Fremont Street Experience opened in 1995 as a public-private rescue of Downtown Las Vegas, which had spent two decades losing tourism to the Strip. The five-block stretch from Main Street to Las Vegas Boulevard was closed to vehicles and roofed with a barrel-vaulted Viva Vision LED canopy. The canopy was upgraded in 2019 to 49 million LEDs running at 4K resolution across 1,500 feet, and it cycles free shows on the hour from 6 p.m. to midnight. Below the canopy, the Golden Nugget, Four Queens, Binion's, Fremont, Plaza, and Circa flank the pedestrian mall, with the SlotZilla zip line launching from the eastern end. Free to walk through. Crowds peak Friday and Saturday nights; weekday evenings are still busy but more navigable. Cover charge applies on big-event nights for the outdoor stages.
