About Lotus of Siam
Lotus of Siam opened in 1999 in a strip mall on Sahara Avenue and quickly became the first Las Vegas restaurant to get sustained national food-media attention — Jonathan Gold's 2000 Gourmet review put Chef Saipin Chutima on the map. Saipin won the James Beard Best Chef Southwest award in 2011, a rarity for a non-Strip Vegas restaurant. The restaurant moved to a larger Flamingo Road location in 2017 after a fire displaced the original. The menu remains the reason to go — Northern Thai specialties that most American Thai restaurants do not attempt: khao soi, nam kao tod (crispy rice salad), drunken noodles with real chili heat, and a wine list built specifically to match Thai spice profiles. Reservations essential for dinner. Lunch is faster to walk into. Heat levels are honest — ask for "Thai spicy" only if you mean it.
