About Golden Nugget Las Vegas

The Golden Nugget opened in 1946 as one of Downtown Las Vegas's original casino hotels. Steve Wynn bought the property in 1973 and used it as the base that eventually funded Mirage; Landry's bought it in 2005 and has operated it since. The 2,419 rooms span four towers added over the property's seven-decade run. The Tank, a three-story water slide that plunges through a 200,000-gallon shark aquarium, is the most-photographed pool on Fremont Street. The lobby displays the Hand of Faith — the largest gold nugget in existence at 61 pounds and 11 ounces. MGM-tier service is not the standard here, but the location (Fremont Street Experience canopy starts at the door), the pool, and the lower room rates than Strip competitors make it the default Downtown luxury pick.
