The Fountains of Bellagio launched with the resort's opening in 1998. The 8.5-acre lake holds 22 million gallons of water and is fitted with 1,214 spray nozzles and 4,500 lights — engineered by California-based WET Design, which has since installed similar systems at venues from Dubai to Singapore but has never topped its original. Shows run every 30 minutes from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays (every 15 minutes from 8 p.m. to midnight) and every 30 minutes from noon on weekends. The choreography is set to a rotating playlist of about 30 songs, from Sinatra and Bocelli to Tiësto. Free from the boulevard sidewalk; better views from the bridge between Bellagio and Cosmopolitan, or from a window table at Bellagio's Lago, Spago, or Hyde restaurants. The pedestrian bridge gets shoulder-to-shoulder for evening shows during peak season.
