About Lion Habitat Ranch
Lion Habitat Ranch is a non-profit sanctuary in Henderson founded by Keith Evans, the longtime trainer and operator of the MGM Grand's casino-floor lion habitat (1999–2012). When the MGM exhibit closed, the lions moved to Evans's ranch, which now houses the original lions, their offspring, and a roster of rescued big cats. Visitors can walk the perimeter at no charge or buy timed paid experiences: a guided tour, a "Trainer for a Day" program, and a giraffe-feeding deck that has become the ranch's most-photographed attraction. The sanctuary also runs a year-round emu and ostrich habitat. A 25-minute drive from the Strip into Henderson. Operating hours and tour availability vary by season — call ahead, especially in summer when the cats are kept off-exhibit during midday heat.
