Awakening opened at Wynn Las Vegas in November 2022 as a $120 million original production built specifically for the property's newly constructed Awakening Theater. The show, directed by Baz Halpin and produced by Steve Wynn and Wynn Resorts, was pitched as Wynn's answer to Cirque — an ensemble spectacle with acrobatics, aerial work, live musicians, and projection-heavy set design. Sir Anthony Hopkins provides pre-recorded narration. The original production was retooled extensively after its initial run — the narrative thread was simplified, set pieces were added, and the show relaunched in 2023 in its current form. 80 minutes, no intermission. The custom theater's steep rake gives every seat a strong sightline to the stage, and the acoustic design is stronger than the Cirque halls built in the 1990s and 2000s.
