About Luxor Las Vegas

Luxor opened in October 1993 as Circus Circus Enterprises' (later Mandalay Resort Group) Egyptian-themed megaresort on the south Strip. The 350-foot, 30-story glass pyramid holds 2,526 rooms inside its sloping walls; two 1998 ziggurat towers added another 1,881 rooms and brought the total to 4,407. The Luxor Sky Beam, aimed from the pyramid's apex, is the brightest single beam of light in the world at 42.3 billion candela. The Bodies and Titanic permanent exhibitions occupy purpose-built gallery spaces off the main atrium, and the casino hosts the long-running Blue Man Group residency. MGM Resorts operates Luxor today. The pyramid-room layout has inward-sloping windows that are distinctive but polarizing; the Tower rooms offer a conventional Strip-hotel layout and are the easier pick for most travelers.
