About Mandalay Bay
Mandalay Bay opened in March 1999 as a South Seas-themed resort on the former Hacienda site. The 3,209 rooms in the main tower are joined by the 43-story all-suite Delano tower (originally THEhotel), giving the combined complex more than 4,700 rooms. The 11-acre pool complex — a wave pool, a sandy lazy river, and the Moorea Beach Club — is the most extensive on the Strip. Shark Reef Aquarium on the second level holds 1.6 million gallons and is the only AZA-accredited aquarium in Nevada. The Michael Jackson ONE Cirque du Soleil residency plays the Mandalay Bay Theatre. Operated by MGM Resorts. South-Strip location means a longer walk to the central concentration of resorts, but the Mandalay Bay/Excalibur/Luxor tram runs free between the three sister properties.
