Michael Jackson ONE opened at Mandalay Bay in 2013 as Cirque du Soleil's second Jackson estate collaboration after the touring Immortal World Tour. The show traces Jackson's career via a curated song sequence — Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Billie Jean, Man in the Mirror, Black or White — performed live over a re-arranged soundtrack mixed for the custom venue. The Mandalay Bay Theater was rebuilt specifically for the production, with L-Acoustics speakers in every seatback and a 4K projection system keyed to the choreography. The dance is more central than in any other Cirque resident show; acrobatics and aerial work support rather than lead. 90 minutes, no intermission. Approved by the Jackson estate, and strictly a tribute rather than a biographical narrative.
